Spring 2024

KIA ORA!

Welcome to the Spring issue of the New Zealand Disability Karate Association newsletter.

The Final newsletter of 2024! What an incredible year it's been for our club! Let's take a moment to celebrate all we've achieved together.

We have doubled in size again. Our karate family has grown so much, with more amazing members joining us to learn, train, and have fun.

This year, we launched our second class at the Manaaki Ability Trust. Giving even more people the chance to experience the joy and benefits of karate.

For the second year running, we held classes for students at Wellington High school.

And the year is not over we still have one more grading and our special Christmas class!

Wellington High School

We have completed a short karate course for Wellington High School. This is as part of the students with complex education needs end of year programme.

Thank you to Liz Mckay and the students for welcoming us into their community. It is great to see the students enjoying karate.

Karate @ Manaaki

The Manaaki Ability Trust clients keep smashing those karate milestones. There are now 25 clients taking part in our karate sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays!

The Trust's highest grade is green belt (and we all know who that is).

By this time next year, it is likely there will be blue and even purple belts at Manaaki Ability Trust.

Rainbro's Black Belt

The sixth and final book in the Rainbro series is nearing completion. In this book Rainbro finally earns his black belt. This may be the end of the series, but like you this is not the end of Rainbro's karate journey.

Any money made from book sales will go towards running the club.

The copies in the dojo be will sold at the special price of $15, which is a saving of nine dollars.
